Recognising the importance of the CCAMLR electronic Catch Documentation Scheme (e-CDS) to track toothfish trade and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the Convention Area, significant upgrades to the e-CDS are being made in 2023.

The scope of work within this year’s e-CDS upgrade has been the outcome of extensive stakeholder engagement with e-CDS users and will involve continued work to improve user functionality. Most notably, this will be accomplished through the implementation of a revised user interface in theme with the CCAMLR website design, with the e-CDS remaining characteristically distinct. In addition to the improved design, the e-CDS will be responsive across multiple devices (i.e. laptop, mobile, tablet which are known devices used by e-CDS users). Phase One of this year’s upgrade was deployed on 1 May.

In order to introduce CCAMLR e-CDS users from both Contracting Parties as well as Non-Contracting Parties cooperating with CCAMLR through CDS to the improved system, the CCAMLR Secretariat will conduct online training for interested e-CDS users during the week of 15 May. During that week, we will run three online training workshops supported by interpretation to accommodate the various time zones and geographic locations of participants, to facilitate maximum engagement. Each workshop will cover an overview of the e-CDS, modules specific to the recent upgrades to the e-CDS and training on the operation and creation of trade documents within the upgraded system.
