This paper discusses the relevance to CCAMLR of the Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 Relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks (UN Agreement). The principal provisions of the UN Agreement are examined and their potential effects on CCAMLR highlighted. The paper also contains an outline of future actions for the consideration of States which are Parties to CCAMLR.
