The Secretariat welcomes Mingyun Qie to the International Professional role of Software Developer at CCAMLR. Mingyun has many years of experience working in China as a software developer and has been living and working here in Tasmania since 2020.
From 6 to 10 March 2023, the CCAMLR Secretariat will be supporting the 10th International Fisheries Observer and Monitoring Conference (IFOMC), the premier international conference series for promoting effective fishery monitoring programs throughout the world.
The Australian Antarctic Festival was hosted in Hobart, Tasmania, from 24 to 28 August 2022. This is the only event of its kind in Australia and is held biennially to celebrate the city’s position as a major Antarctic gateway city.
At the end of July the Secretariat said farewell to Finance Officer Christina (Chris to those of us in the office) Macha, so she may hang up her calculator and enjoy a well-earned retirement. Chris has been part of the scenery here for over two decades after initially accepting a temporary position only meant to last for a month!
The Secretariat is pleased to welcome Facundo Alvarez to the role of Spanish Translator. Facundo was the best graduate when he finished his bachelor's degree in translation. Facundo has over six years experience in translation and has worked with several international organisations during his career. This is Facundo's first time in Australia, coming from Argentina to join us here in Hobart.
